Increased Risk of Damaged Goods

Major Cargo RisksWith the rise of supply and demand and the amount of different countries involved international supply trading, the transportation of materials is now at an all-time high. Due to this, one has to think carefully about the specifics involved in the shipping and transportation of goods because of an increased risk. Below are some of the vulnerabilities if which you should be aware.

One of the things you can do is ensure that the crew carries out the adequate security inspections. Many inspected containers were without any proper seals to keep the goods secure. Also, some have discovered that many of the receivers had not been properly trained in how to deal with different cargo and what to do depending on what circumstances may arise.

Due to the lack of following proper procedure, many companies who receive goods have received poor numbers as judged by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s program.  Some companies even fell below the 10% mark for compliance of the proper procedures. These are the companies to stay away from when planning your shipment.

Companies with low ratings such as these are at a higher risk of cargo theft, which is another vulnerability to be mindful of. There have been noted armed robberies of cargo content, some of them very violent. Of course, much of this depends on the contents of your shipment, but it should be at the top of your list.
